Crawley, a prosperous suburb in the western part of Perth, is now included in the City of Perth’s local government area. Previously, it was shared by the cities of Subiaco and Perth. One of the notable landmarks in Crawley is the Crawley Edge Boatshed, which is often photographed and recognized. It is believed to have been constructed in the early 1930s and underwent restoration in the early 2000s. The re-launch of the boatshed was done by Jon Sanders, a triple solo-circumnavigator of the world, and David Dicks, a single solo-circumnavigator. Another significant feature in Crawley is the statue called Eliza, located near Matilda Bay on the Swan River. Designed by Tony and Ben Jones, it was unveiled on October 15, 2007, to honor the Crawley Baths, a prominent swimming site in Perth from 1914 to 1964. Eliza often dresses up to commemorate special occasions. Prior to the war, the Swan River in Crawley served as a landing strip for flying boats. In 1953, the Royal Perth Yacht Club relocated from Perth and was re-established on the shores of Pelican Point in Crawley.
